I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it

What to Expect
If you are new to therapy, here's what you can expect from reaching out to us:
In the initial consultation I'll ask you to tell me briefly about the issues that are bringing you to counseling. This conversation typically lasts about 15 minutes and serves for you to ask me any questions about the counseling you may be wondering. We can discuss fees, if you need to request a sliding scale, how often and where we will meet, and possibly schedule our first therapy session. While this is a fairly short conversation, many clients are able to gauge the therapist's personality and determine if they would be a good match for them. You can give me a call directly or email me to schedule your consultation. I provide consultations free of charge to prospective clients so that we both can make an informed decision about creating our therapy relationship.
Words of encouragement
Stop and take a breath. Take notice of your body in this moment and what it's telling you. Some signs of stress in the body include a clenched jaw, tension in the neck and shoulders, balled fists, fast breathing, and an uneasy feeling in the gut to name a few. If you notice your body is stressed during this process of trying to advocate for your mental health, that is completely normal! Take a moment to calm your body, and recognize that this may be a stressful time for you and your family, but your experience is very normal for a lot of people. |
